Addressing the trainees during the opening ceremony at the NDE state headquarters, Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area of the state, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Chika Ufele said the NDE’s cardinal programmes were designed to create jobs among the unemployed persons through vocational skills acquisition, transient job placement, entrepreneurship training and most often enterprise creation.

“In all these programmes, special attention is given to women by designing peculiar schemes that would suit their home management and cottage activities for income generation”.

She added that in the past, they have been trained in cosmetology, bead making, hat making and food processing and packaging.

“Today, another training session on how to make wigs, turban and decorative paint making is being organised for 30 women in Anambra State as a way of empowering them to become self-employed,” she said.

Ufele further said that the training would run for a period of five days and she encouraged the trainees to persevere and complete the training for their future endeavours.
